Severed Ties-2009-08-26
I was up in WI this past weekend partying with some friends. They just moved into a new house and had a house warming party. Turns out that the game Rock Band is really hard. I played piano for several years and play the drums as well, so trying to play this game proved to be difficult. I tried to play along to the song, which didn’t really match up to what was going on in the game. The songs I didn’t know were actually easier in a way.
I devised a way to play my game cube while using the elliptical machine. Last night, I burned over 1000 calories while playing Metroid Prime. Fun times.
I hate allergies by the way.

Rock Band works on that bizarre logic that the harder modes make sense while the easy mode is least like the music.
Playing drums on Expert (on an electric drum kit) might have been the best way for you to play once you got used to the colours.

It sort of blows me away that Ryan still crosses paths with this guy. I guess the orginal soap story gave me a sense of an isolated incident from a long time ago.
It’s kind of cool that the guy didn’t re-cop some sort of paranoid grudge.

LOL Rockband. I, as well, find it difficult. The fake-drums do not have the reaction of a real trap-set, along with the pedal being rather …poorly constructed (I broke about 5 of them while in college just from normal use on expert mode). It took me forever to get used to not having good kickback from the foot pedal, and no good reactionary physics from the “drums” surfaces. It’s sad, but at least the game keeps kids listening to good standard music that they may have never heard until the games “Guitar Hero” and Rockband came into existance.
As far as this comic goes…I almost still feel bad for the guy who stole the soap. Walking around, those scars always reminding him of the night he was a total jerk to someone else–I would have hung out with him a bit more, personally–just to let him know it was forgiven and water under the bridge. Maybe I’m just too forgiving and care about everyone though. Nice work, still. <3

I find it amazing that I don’t know how to play any instrument, but I can beat most experts songs. While my roommate plays guitar pretty decently and still has trouble with Rockband Guitar. It’s five frets and a single string, if you think about it. But most people who play drums seem to get the Rockband and Guitar Hero drum set down pretty well. And for Xale, we went through one drumset and two foot pedals (One of those foot pedals we broke at least four times) but the Rockband 2 foot pedal has yet to break on us and the drumset is standing firm. The drummer I play with says that the Rockband 2 drumset has a really good bounce and makes rolling easier. I’m not too sure what that means, but I suggest upgrading.

ON ALLERGIES:
Go get some wild-caught salmon (not, I repeat, NOT farmed). Eat a serving each day (for instance, at lunch). Your allergies should be more-or-less gone on the days that you do after a couple of days.
The reason this works? Allergies are (partly) based on the foods you eat, which heavily influence the amount of inflammation it undergoes when exposed to physical trauma, allergens, and toxins (such as those produced by bacteria when you are sick). The inflammation factors in your body determine just how violent your symptoms are when you are sick or have an allergy attack.
Salmon and garlic are great for this (though you have to eat a LOT of garlic). Check out the anti-inflammatory factor here: http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/finfish-and-shellfish-products/4231/2
Also, avoid processed meats, especially luncheon meats. The nitrates and nitrites they put in ham, bologna, hot dogs (eww), and sliced turkey make allergies flare something AWFUL.
Good luck, man. Take my advice to heart; I 100% guarantee you’ll get better (and quick).

…simply because that website trademarked “IF Rating”, I wouldn’t trust that. Also, that would mean aspirin or paracetamol would help with allergies. Reading the info they’re spouting… I really wouldn’t pay too much attention to that site. I feel the same way about Glycemic Index (GI) ratings. Unless you’re diabetic, you shouldn’t pay it any attention. GL (glycemic load) matters more anyway, and you don’t really have to worry about that either.
Allergies suck, but that what hypersensitivity reactions are all about. Your body might learn to not freak out, or you can medicate most of it away when needed. Enzyme deficiency is the real bitch.
